It’s been a few weeks and I want to get right to the heart of matters. We need volunteers in the Philly area for 4 things. We need to keep ONE moving in our area, and that will only work with the help from everyone. Please let us know via Facebook or send an email to one.philadelphia@gmail.com if you can do any of the following. Fighting global poverty is needed now more than ever – since the economy has taken a spiral, many organizations and individuals are donating less and advocating less – we need you. This is critical. Please don’t feel since you have no experience you can’t do any of these – we will and can train you.
Also, thank you to all of you who participated in getting the mural design together. Bernie has sent it off to ONE and we await their decision. Thank you Bernie.
ONE Tabling Opportunities - sign people up to join ONE and make a stand against global poverty. You are provided with brochures, bracelets, t-shirts and the declaration. You staff a table at an event and sign people up on the declaration and give them a bracelet and information about ONE.
1. June 27, 2009 – Dancin’ In the Streets HIV/AIDS awareness festival – 2nd and Girard, Artist Plaza. Fun, food, dancing, DJ’s, artists. ONE will have a table there
2. August 7 – 9, 2009 – *You will only have to staff one day, but the day hasn’t been decided* – Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival. Join lady MC’s, breakdancers, graffiti artists and DJ’s for a celebration of women in hip-hop. Temple University
Letters to the Editor - we need people to write letters about ONE and their personal reasons for being a part of ONE. We will give you help with the letters. These go to local magazine and newspaper editors
Mayor Nutter meeting – The local ONE chapter wants Michael Nutter to declare Philadelphia a City of ONE, which makes total sense since ONE was first announced here. We need people to call and write his office to request a meeting with us about this. The more people that call and write, the more chance we have of getting in.
Please, please, please consider being a part of one of the opportunities above. You can make a difference!
Thank you.
